Faxanadu is an action RPG for the NES, a spin-off of Falcom's Xanadu series. A wanderer returns home to find the Elf town of Eolis in crisis, with its water supply cut off and monsters roaming the land. Climb the World Tree, fighting enemies, buying weapons, armour and magic in towns, and gaining ranks as you go. It uses passwords from the town's guru to save your progress.
