Pac-Man was Atari's 1982 home version of the arcade smash for the 2600. Guide Pac-Man around the maze, eating the wafers while avoiding the four ghosts, and gobble a power pill to turn the tables and chase them down. It sold millions of copies and was one of the biggest-selling games on the system, famous for its flickering ghosts and distinctive sound effects. The ghosts flicker because the 2600 could only draw a limited number of sprites at once, so the game shows them on alternate frames.
